Kathryn Johnson is Minister of Music and Organist at West Plano Presbyterian Church, where she oversees choral and instrumental music. She served as Dean of the Dallas Chapter, AGO, from 2014-16 and 1983-85 and is an ordained clergy (Deacon in Full Connection) in the United Methodist Church. Kathryn served as Organist and Minister of Music and Fine Arts at Northaven United Methodist Church, Dallas, for 23 years, and during the same period as Organist at Dallas’ Temple Emanu-El. Subsequently she was appointed as Organist and Associate Minister of Music Ministries and Mission at University Park United Methodist, and in later years has had similar ministries at Christ the Servant Lutheran, Allen, and St. Stephen United Methodist, Mesquite. Organ studies have included lessons with her late father, SMU Music Professor Dr. A. Eugene Ellsworth, undergraduate work at SMU with Robert T. Anderson, graduate degree at Valparaiso University with Philip Gehring, and summer study in Switzerland with Guy Bovet and Lionel Rogg. A winner in the 1974 Fort Wayne National Organ Competition, Kathryn also was a graduate teaching assistant and adjunct faculty organ instructor at Valparaiso University.
